Our Catholic Identity

The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is a beautifully crafted Montessori-based religious education program that caters to children between the ages of 3 and 12, primarily within the Roman Catholic Church and the Anglican Communion. This innovative approach focuses on creating an inviting and carefully prepared environment called the atrium, where children can immerse themselves in sensorially rich materials that stimulate their curiosity and foster a deep, personal relationship with God.

Rooted in the belief that children possess an innate capacity for faith and spirituality, the Catechesis nurtures this gift through hands-on, experiential learning opportunities, allowing children to explore sacred stories, rituals, and symbols in a meaningful way. The program also emphasizes the importance of catechist formation, equipping educators with the tools and knowledge to guide young learners on their spiritual journey. The National Association of the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGSUSA) plays a vital role in supporting catechists and parents as they collaborate in this educational process.

At Saint Agatha School, our dedicated, level-one trained teachers lead preschool and kindergarten classes, fostering a warm and engaging atmosphere where children can grow spiritually and socially within the school and parish community.
